Avoidance is a common response to fear and anxiety.  When it comes to food fear, there are many ways avoidance is presented.  If you work in the eating disorder field, you are aware of many of the eating disorder behaviors demonstrated at meals/snacks.  Clients and/or their families are not always aware of why meal behaviors have changed.  This worksheet helps clients understand the function of the behaviors and identifies what type of avoidance is being used.  Once clients have the awareness that the behaviors are rooted in avoiding fear, they are able to make the conscious choice to face the fear.  The free Alternative Action Form is a great follow-up worksheet to this one.

This worksheet is also included in the Complete Food Exposure Guide Bundle.
