Alpha-gal is an allergy to mammal meat that is sometimes developed after being bit by the Lone Star tick. The Lone Star tick transmits the alpha-gal sugar molecule to the individual. This can cause an immune response. Individuals with the Alpha-gal allergy must avoid all mammal meat and sometimes dairy products to avoid reactions. This handout provides an overview of Alpha-gal, foods recommend/not recommended lists, and a sample menu for your client.
