If you work in pediatrics and meet with parents/caregivers who ask you:

  • What exactly do I feed my child?
  • What food has proteins? Fats? Fibre? Carbs?
  • Can you give me a meal plan for my child?
  •  Do you have examples of snacks and/or meals that are healthy for children?
  • How much of x,y,z does my child need a day?
  • How many snacks should my child have a day?

This handout is for you!

The building balanced meals & snacks templates provide a simple, easy-to-understand visual guide for parents to learn how to put together balanced meals and snacks for their children. It is flexible and designed to work for a variety of dietary needs and food preferences. This handout is created using an intuitive eating approach and aligns with the division of responsibility of feeding.

This handout includes:

✅ 1 summary sheet – outlining what is a balanced meal, what is a balanced snack, what beverages are recommended  for kids, fun foods and the division of responsibility of feeding

✅ 2 meal & snack planning visual guides – outlining what to include in a meal & why, with practical examples

I use this guide at least once a week in my pediatric nutrition practice so it naturally had to be the first handout in my store! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
