Gastroparesis is commonly associated with many conditions, including: cancer (especially upper GI), diabetes, eating disorders, hyperthyroidism and nervous system conditions such as Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis. It is also common in individuals who are taking chronic pain medications (such as narcotics).

Gastroparesis or delayed gastric emptying can cause significant digestive symptoms that make nourishment very difficult.

Eating smaller snacks more frequently throughout the day can help to improve symptoms associated with Gastroparesis.  Snacks that are easier to digest (lower in fibre, moderate amount of fat and protein, softer in texture) can help to meet overall nutrition and energy needs.
